Kinjo - Japanese Restaurant, Bar & Grill
If you’ve ever wandered through Cobham and wondered where to find an authentic Japanese dining experience with a modern twist, Kinjo - Japanese Restaurant, Bar & Grill is the place to explore. Located at 39-43 Oakdene Parade, Cobham KT11 2LR, United Kingdom, Kinjo blends traditional Japanese flavors with a lively bar and grill vibe that hits just the right note-whether you're out for a casual lunch, planning a cozy dinner, or catching up over cocktails.
From the outside, Kinjo feels warm and inviting. But it’s when you step inside that the magic begins. The atmosphere is stylish yet relaxed-dim lighting, polished wood, and modern Japanese decor give the space a cool, contemporary feel without being over the top. It’s a spot where solo diners feel comfortable at the bar, groups find their corner for laughter and shared plates, and couples enjoy quiet dinners with sake in hand.
What truly sets Kinjo - Japanese Restaurant, Bar & Grill apart is its diverse and carefully curated menu. Of course, you’ll find Japanese staples like sushi rolls, sashimi, and teriyaki grilled dishes, but the offerings stretch far beyond the basics. Whether you’re after something light like vegan miso soup, looking to indulge in crispy karaage chicken, or sip on a craft cocktail with your wagyu skewers, Kinjo brings bold flavors with balance.
It’s not just about meat, either. The restaurant caters beautifully to vegetarian and vegan diners, offering plant-based dishes that feel just as indulgent as their meatier counterparts. Halal options are also available, making it a thoughtful choice for mixed groups. Craving something sweet? Their Japanese desserts-think matcha cheesecake or black sesame ice cream-are not just delicious, they’re art on a plate.
Kinjo’s bar is more than just an add-on-it’s a destination in itself. The drink menu includes a solid range of Japanese whisky, sake, and creative cocktails that echo the flavors of the food menu. Whether you're a fan of smooth spirits or prefer something refreshing like a yuzu spritz, there’s something for everyone. Plus, they serve wine, beer, and even hard liquor, making it ideal for a late-night bite or celebratory evening.
You can expect free water refills-a small but appreciated touch that shows how much they care about comfort. For non-drinkers or daytime visitors, the tea selection is exceptional. From delicate green teas to rich genmaicha, it’s a treat for tea lovers.
One of the things people love about Kinjo is how accessible and welcoming it feels. The restaurant has a wheelchair accessible entrance, restrooms, and seating, which is often overlooked in many high-end spots. The staff is attentive without hovering, and the overall energy is just right-easy-going but still polished.
Kinjo is especially popular for lunch and dinner, and it’s easy to see why. It’s the kind of place that’s perfect for a solo ramen lunch, a long catch-up with friends, or a quiet dinner date. They don’t do delivery or takeaway, so the focus here is fully on dine-in experiences-and honestly, that’s a good thing. The food is best enjoyed fresh and beautifully plated, just as the chef intended.
What makes Kinjo - Japanese Restaurant, Bar & Grill more than just another Japanese eatery is how it seamlessly blends quality food, a great vibe, and thoughtful service. It’s rare to find a place that ticks all the boxes-delicious dishes, a creative drink menu, inclusive dietary options, stylish setting, and top-notch hospitality-but Kinjo delivers, consistently.
For anyone searching for:
A Japanese restaurant in Cobham that’s more than just sushi,
A bar and grill with authentic Japanese flavor,
Or simply a great spot for healthy, halal, vegan, or late-night eats,
Kinjo should absolutely be on your radar. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, there’s always something new to love.

Burgers, ribs, chicken. Buffalo tenders were very good, nice burger. I replaced bacon with jalapenos but they were not in the least spicy nor did they have any taste (and they didn't have any hot sauce!). Other than that, very satisfying meal. Will definitely go back, nothing else like this in Cobham as far as I know!
Cleaver is a fantastic place. We went there for lunch. Food was amazing. We asked for House red wine. wine was fantastic. Service was very good. There is a open kitchen. You can see them while cooking. Decor was very warm and inviting. We were offered window seat. As we finished our lunch it started raining so we asked the manager if we can stay little bit longer. He allowed us to stay longer. There was only one thing I didn’t like that was payment. They still have £30 limit for contactless so I had to pay in the multiples of £30. Apart from payment very enjoyable experience. I would recommend this place..
Had a nice family dinner at Cleaver. The burgers were good, the chicken burger really good and the ribs very tasty. Daughters had the chocolate caramel and salt pie ( can't recall the correct name) but they liked it. My wife and I shared the banana bread and butter pudding. This was very average and should really be called banana cake ( heated) with a scoop of ice cream. Nice enough, but not really in the mould of bread and butter pudding. We'll go back, on a scale of 10 i'd give it a 7.5 for value and quality.
If you enjoy eating your meal with absolutely no atmosphere then Cleavers on a Monday night is the place for you! Only 2 tables being used when we got there yet the music was still very quiet. I think cranking up the amp may have helped fight that reaction to whisper to your party. 4/10 Was served quickly and food came in a timely fashion, found the 10 chicken wings salty and dry and my burger a little dry too but still beats a microwave meal at home. 6/10. Service after the meal was incredibly slow. Even though there was only 3 parties, including ours, to look after. The bar is within sight of most of the tables so we can see when you decide to make yourself a drink and relax instead of getting the card machine! Ended up going to the bar to nudge them after waiting 10 minutes at the table so not a great end to what could have been a passable mundane meal at your local highstreet. 3 stars out of 5 because I know they can do better! However I believe Saturday service should be given every day of the week.
Had a tasty lunch today. Bbq ribs and crispy squid for starters, then cheese, avocado and bacon burger for mains with a side of sweet potato fries. 3rd visit to this chain (2nd at the branch) and have enjoyed each visit. Delicious food and lovely service. They also had a big container of water for the dog!!
